A small, expendable launch vehicle is propelled from the launch pad by a CASTOR 120® rocket motor. The versatile, 117,000 pound CASTOR 120 motor by Thiokol Propulsion, can be used as a first stage or upper stage motor, or as a strap-on booster for various vehicle configurations. This new generation of rocket motors builds upon the history of reliability and performance demonstrated by Thiokol Propulsion's Castor and STAR motors. Some potential CASTOR 120 motor applications are depicted in the background.
